Nové Město: The New City Gate of Ústí nad Labem
Nové Město will transform 30 hectares of post-industrial land into a new district combining housing, business, innovation and university life.
One of the most significant urban transformation projects in northern Bohemia is taking shape in the heart of Ústí nad Labem. The innovative Nové Město district presents an opportunity to transform approximately 30 hectares of post-industrial land into a modern urban district integrating housing, business, innovation, a university environment and high-quality public spaces.
The site is located in the immediate vicinity of the planned high-speed rail terminal, the Jan Evangelista Purkyně University campus, the city centre and development areas along the Bílina River.
A new gateway to the city
The project is taking shape as Ústí nad Labem prepares for one of the biggest transport changes in its history. The planned Prague–Dresden high-speed rail line will significantly improve the city’s accessibility and strengthen its connections within Central Europe.
The city’s ambition, however, goes beyond creating a transport hub. The goal is to use this opportunity to develop a new urban district that will serve as a gateway to Ústí nad Labem and a new centre of economic and social life.
Nové Město is designed as a modern, multifunctional district. In addition to new housing, it will provide space for offices, services, technology companies, creative industries, research and development activities, start-ups and businesses linked to the knowledge economy.
Connecting the city, university and innovation
Jan Evangelista Purkyně University will play an important role in the development of the district. Nové Město aims to create an environment where students, graduates, researchers, entrepreneurs and investors can find opportunities for collaboration, innovation and long-term growth.
At the same time, the project responds to some of the city’s long-term challenges, including the outflow of young people, a shortage of skilled job opportunities and the presence of extensive brownfield sites in central locations.
Nové Město is intended to create an attractive urban environment that helps retain talented residents and attract new investment with higher added value.
Part of a wider transformation
Nové Město forms part of the broader transformation strategy for Ústí nad Labem. While the Předlice development area will provide space for larger manufacturing, technology and logistics investments, Nové Město will serve as their urban, residential, university and innovation hub.
Together, these areas create a development ecosystem combining business, innovation, housing and education.
For investors
For investors, Nové Město represents an opportunity to participate in the creation of a new urban district in a location with excellent transport connections, a strong university base and public-sector support.
Ústí nad Labem offers investors the opportunity to become part of the long-term transformation of a regional capital that aims to harness the potential of high-speed rail, modern technologies and the knowledge economy to create a new hub for life, business and innovation for the entire region.
