Florenc21: Reimagining the Heart of Prague

One of Europe’s most ambitious city-centre regeneration projects, bringing together world-class architecture, public space and urban life.

Located between Prague’s historic centre and Karlín, Florenc21 is transforming one of the city’s most significant brownfield sites into a vibrant new neighbourhood designed for living, working, culture and public life. Positioned at one of Prague’s most important transport hubs, the project will reconnect districts that have long been separated by infrastructure and create a new urban destination in the heart of the Czech capital.

What makes Florenc21 exceptional is the way it is being created. The project began with an international urban design competition and evolved through one of the largest architectural competition programmes in Central Europe. More than 160 teams applied, with 15 leading architectural studios from across Europe selected to design the new district.

Developed in close cooperation with the City of Prague and local municipalities, Florenc21 demonstrates a new approach to city-making built on collaboration, public participation and architectural excellence. The new neighbourhood will combine housing, offices, hotels, retail, culture and generous public spaces within a walkable and sustainable urban environment.

More than a regeneration project, Florenc21 is an opportunity to shape the future centre of Prague and create a district that reflects the ambitions of a modern European capital.
