Polská/Mongolská Site – Ostrava-Poruba/Svinov
A planned new residential quarter linking Poruba and Svinov, guided by a dedicated urban design study.
The area bounded by Polská and Mongolská Streets is earmarked to become a new residential quarter, representing a significant opportunity to expand Ostrava’s supply of high-quality housing while better connecting the Poruba V housing estate with the low-density family-housing area of Svinov.
The Municipal Studio for Urban Planning and Architecture (MAPPA) has prepared a dedicated land-use study for the site, setting out clear parameters for future streets, building lines and building heights, as well as for public space. The study prioritises high-quality public realm, an active street-level frontage, and a calm residential character, with the area protected from heavy through-traffic and a new pedestrian and cycling link created between Svinov and Poruba.
